On Why This. Why Now.

Recently, I had an interaction with young people hoping to build businesses, work in development, wide eyed, idealistic and full of optimism.  Their vision, their excitement gave me hope, real hope, that the world will be fine, no matter what is burning in the present.

I came home thinking of the many things they would encounter, the many lies we tell them, the many lies we repeat till they seem true, selling them systems to scale before they dare question.

The world is a tough place. We like to say it’s the survival of the fittest, but I don’t think it’s true.  It is the survival of the most prepared, the most alert, and the most willing to endure long after the spotlight dims.  We are often ill-prepared, fed idealistic rubbish like “never give up” without being taught when to pivot, when to step back, when to go all out and when to conserve strength.

A lot of hard lessons I had learnt started resurfacing.

So, i started scribbling. Then I got serious.

Nchanting is my thinking-out-loud space on leadership, power, and becoming. Fortnightly reflections with no advice, no jargon, and very little reverence. Written for those learning to lead—and unlearning just as often—everything, everywhere, all at once.

Take what you want, leave what you don’t.  It’s a free world after all, isn’t it?
